Coding Manager

SUMMARY

A non-profit medical group is looking for a Coding Manager to oversee all physician practice coding functions and serve as a key coding resource for the organization.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the day to day activities related to the accurate coding and charge capture of all facility based professional services
  • Review encounters for accurate and complete HCC risk diagnosis coding and resolution of all office visit coding edit review
  • Responsible for the support and documentation of coding related questions from clinical, billing and patient financial services staff
  • Responsible for problem-solving coding issues
  • Must be familiar with professional billing and coding rules within a general, multi-specialty physician group practice
  • Supervises Coding Department staff including coding supervisors, certified coders, coding specialists and coding charge entry staff

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred (or equivalent education, training or experience)
  • Certified Procedural Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or other related professional billing/coding (not hospital billing) certification required
  • 7 – 10 years’ professional experience that includes 3-5 years of coding and/or compliance experience
  • 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience to include in-depth knowledge of coding, compliance, medical terminology, billing operations and computer systems required.
  • Experience with an Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills essential
  • Must possess the ability to present and explain complex material to physicians and other providers in a non-confrontational manner
  • Strong PC skills in word processing, database and presentation applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
