The PA will assess and manage patient care including cardiology, diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, develop plans of care and ongoing evaluation as a part of the inpatient cardiology team.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to the patient population in the inpatient setting; PA may also see patients in the outpatient clinics, as needed
  • Writes orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests
  • Work with the patient’s healthcare team to develop appropriate plans of care
  • Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to organizational and regulatory policies and procedures
  • Performs bedside procedures, as appropriate
  • Practices cost effective medicine in an efficient manner, maximizing available resources
  • Follows all designated prescriptive practices and monitoring requirements with the designated supervising physician and administrative report
  • Participates in departmental and organizational committees and programs as appropriate and attends all required meetings, in-services, and professional trainings
  • Remains actively involved in continuing education with a commitment to self and departmental growth
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as required by the department/division 
Requirements:
  • Minimum of one year working in an inpatient department within a hospital setting
  • Must have completed a graduate level physician assistant program (Master’s Degree)
  • Must be currently licensed and certified as a NP or PA with controlled substance authorization in the state of MA
